Her active involvement in the Ten Mile Historic Preservation Committee, Ten Mile Neighborhood Association, and the Building Resilience with Nature Steering Committee ensures that Safe Haven’s work remains grounded in the needs and priorities of local residents. Many board members serve on neighborhood associations, historic preservation committees, and regional resilience initiatives. This community-embedded leadership ensures Safe Haven’s work is informed by lived experience, local history, and on-the-ground knowledge—key components in equitable home repair and community stabilization efforts. Mission Statement Safe Haven Critical Home Repair is committed to providing essential repairs that will eliminate safety hazards, improve accessibility, and promote healthy living conditions for low-income and at-risk homeowners. By mobilizing volunteers, engaging donors, and partnering with local organizations, we will stabilize housing, support independent living, and strengthen the overall well-being of our communities. Organizational Purpose Safe Haven Critical Home Repair operates exclusively for charitable, educational, religious, and scientific purposes in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or any corresponding section of future federal tax law. Our services include, but are not limited to: • Roofing • Flooring • Bathroom modifications • Sheetrock installation • Plumbing All work is focused on supporting underserved homeowners in need of critical repairs. Governance Structure Safe Haven Critical Home Repair operates with a strong, community-centered governance structure designed to ensure accountability, transparency, and strategic oversight. The organization’s leadership is composed of a dedicated Board of Directors supported by an Advisory Board of subject-matter experts who strengthen the organization’s capacity, credibility, and community reach. Donations At Safe Haven, every act of generosity makes a meaningful difference. We warmly welcome both monetary and in-kind donations, and each gift — no matter the size — helps us bring comfort, safety, and hope to local residents living in unhealthy and unsafe conditions. Financial contributions allow us to respond quickly to urgent needs, fund repairs, and expand services for families who need support the most. We also gratefully accept material donations, including household essentials, building and repair supplies, cleaning products, hygiene items, bedding, clothing, nonperishable food, and other everyday necessities that help create safe and stable living environments. Our work is rooted in the voices and priorities of the people in our historic settlement communities. Your donation directly supports your neighbors and helps us restore dignity, health, and safety to the places they call home. Together, we can make lasting changes.
